Yo man,
I can't agree with that.
I think there is other safteies better than Sean Taylor.
I have to say that Brian Dawkins is better. So to say he is better than Brian Dawkins, that is understatement.
Mike Brown (Bears) Safteties on Carolina.
I think Sean Taylor is good, but he ain't the best.
Bahwon Jue from Chargers can give him a run too. Even players from Chiefs can too.
I do declare, that was the quickest hushing of an argument I've seen on this post. I knew it would be when Aneesh started muttering that junk to me in the office yesterday!
TAKE THAT BAMA!
I've seen Sean Taylor burnt on a few occassions. He's a linebacker in a safetys body. All he does is look for the big hit. I think he'd pose after a hit before picking up a fumble just to make SportsCenter top 10.
I can't place them in order, but Sean Taylor isn't in the top 3. Like wmillion said, let the guy make the pro bowl...
Should be interesting this year though because his job has just about doubled in importance and visibility. Look at the talent he has to face in his division:
* TO, Terry Glenn, Plaxico, etc.
* Julius Jones (with recievers), Tiki Barber, and he plays Reggie Bush and Cadillac.
His work is definitely cut out for him this year. If he makes pro-bowl this year, my hats off to him.

back on Sean Taylor
I really do not think that Sean Taylor is one of the better safeties in the league. I rather keep our Tony Parish than him.
Here are my picks or selection who I would want to play saftey for me over this guy.
Sean Taylor- 2005 Washington Redskins 15 70 60.0(tackles) 10 1 2 34 17.0 32 0 10
take at look at just a few comparisions I made for all of you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Mike Brown-2005 Chicago Bears 12 72 more tackles than Taylor 63.0 9 1 3 116 38.7 72 1 3
note that Mike Brown only played in 12 games compared to Sean Taylor 15 . (so what do you have to say for your self now)
Mike Minter -2005 Carolina Panthers 16 (more tackles again) 62 40.0 22 1.5 1 47 47.0 47 0 8
Definite on Lawyer Milloy 2005 Buffalo Bills 16 106 75.0 31 1 1 0 0.0 0 0 3
Nick Ferguson 2005 Denver Broncos 16 79 61.0 18 0 5 59 11.8 30 0 3
Darren Sharper 2005 Minnesota Vikings 14 51 41.0 10 0 9 276 30.7 92 2 7
Sammy Knight- 2005 Kansas City Chiefs 16 89 70.0 19 2 2 12 6.0 12 0 11
Greg Wesley -2005 Kansas City Chiefs 16 82 65.0 17 0 6 106 17.7 51 0 2
(note that he is slowing down, but look at his stats when he was at Green Bay.)
I have many more, but got to go to sleep now..
Not to mention the other players mention earlier. Staying away from "Roy Williams" because of controversy around him. I just have to say he is comparable to Ronnie Lott. Remember he is from CA, and the Bay Area at that too. He probably studied Lott while he was younger.
Go check out stats on http://www.nfl.com and then get back at me.
Close this subject. Not worth discussing any longer. Stick to your Redskins and I will stick with my Niners. Is just like me saying that Tony Parrish is better than other safeties. I will never do him in that way. Although, Parrish does have more experience than your Sean Taylor ,and I like his character any day over Sean Taylor.
The statement made of Sean Taylor in relation to him being one of the best safties in league is an extreme understatement. He is good, but to be the best, you have to be better than the rest . I don't think that he is at all.
Do I need to say anymore?
Trust me, I know football.
Completed my revalutation...LOL
As much as it kills me to say it, Aneesh has a point. In a sport, especially those in which you own a zone, people avoid you.
Take, for instance, Barry Bonds. Can you say that all of the players with more homers (during the regular season) than him for the past few years are better than he is? No! The fact is, he's the most feared hitter in baseball history and is intentionally walked all the time. Operative word is "intentionally".
Taking it back to football, when Deion Sanders was in his prime (with the Niners), no one bothered throwing it to his man. They knew it was a pick or tip 75% of the time.
So fine, bama, you have your point! Oh that hurt me!
Excuse my last my commment about Sean Taylor. I actually gave some recognition that he does not deserve.
I really meant to say that Aneesh and Whocares overstated Sean Taylor ability.
Don't get it twitted my guy, nobody is saying that the bama is right, I just said he had a point.
Barry Bonds puts up numbers, but his numbers are skewed because he gets 200 less at-bats than everybody else.
No, No, No, No way I'm siding with that bama-ass Redskin. I think he's one dimensional personally.
YO, I said this topic should close.
One last question for you, how far as Sean Taylor gone in postseason?
If my memory serves me correctly,
I have to say that Lawyer Milloy and Mike Brown got past the wild card and first round.
Correct me if I am wrong....
This dude has no class. He will never make pro-bowl because of it.
Holla back.
The comment that you last made about stats is invalid bro.
Stats gives you the facts, last time I checked stats is a proven factor.
For you to say that Sean Taylor is a the best safety in the league. That's just an opinion.
I presented you with the facts to why I feel that he is not.
This is not even an argument, its just a statement bro.
bama:noun
1. A person from Alabama
2. A derogatory term for a Washington DC native.
3. The summation of the Washington Redskins
Bama is used in DC like "mark ass busta" was used in Cali. It's the culture, it goes hand-in-hand with go-go music. A whole different, and horrid, world!
This seems contradictory to your earlier argument about him beung the best run stopper at safety.
"it will explain why Sean Taylor doesn't get many tackles against the run. Very rare a RB gets by our d-line".
I will stay realistic with you and see how he produces in the next few years. First tell him to stay out of trouble too.
Holla back.
The city is fine. Actually, the North West quadrant of the city is fine. I love it!
But when you get to South East and the Maryland edges, it all goes downhill fast! I'll come back probably once a month when I first move, but we'll be hanging out in Georgetown. NO GO-GO, NO BAMAS!!!
Who's down for a Niner game when I gets back to Cali? We'll be beheading the Raiders right around week 6 so come on out!
true that Tyler....
He felt them safeties coming from the Steelers.
Good article Aneesh..
Thanks for sharing!
Good Backup to your Roy Williams argument.
I will give you that .
As you notice, when I named my safeties, he was not one that I selected.
I think Mike Brown and Lawyer Milloy out do all them cats.
Got to give it to Troy though. He is the man from USC.
