It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I firmly believe that this is the year the 49ers make a glorious return to the playoffs. Any detractors? If so, this blog is a fine place to make a bet that's in writing!

say somethin'!

I disagree. You could easily end up as the worst team in the division. You have unproven QB and RB who can't stay healthy. The D should be better, but your D line is problem. Linebacker Core is very Young and Secondary is patch work.

I'll chime in on this. You guys finally have some talent on defense, but whats going to happen is the loss of Norv will stunt Alex Smith and the o-line will suffer as well.

Causing Smith and Gore both to drop off from last year.

8-8 is what I see.

I hear you both. But answer this, what better can be said about other teams in our division? Seattle has lost it's secondary and it's receivers. The Rams have zero D. The Cards have a new coach and an unproven everything. I'm thinking we have a better shot at winning the division than you're giving credit for.

Knowing that I am a big 49er fan.
I have great hopes and I am very optismtic about my team. I think those that made comments should view our team homepage http://49ers.com/.

I say Alex Smith has regained his confidence even with Norv gone. They will still implement similar plays just like Norv was there. You will see him in a lot of playact if Gore stays healthy. I think we are deep in running backs too. Michael Robinson and others. So Walt, either way we will be fine.

GO NINERS!!!!

First I will respond to Rufus.

I believe the 49ers D last year was worst than the Rams. Now the 49ers made upgrades on paper, but lets see how it translates on the field. I do agree your division is very weak, which could play into your hands. I think 9-7 wins your division again. However, I think Seattle has very good WRs in Branch, Engram, Jurivicious, etc. The secondary, we will see.

As for Phonse, I personally think Alex Smith has what it takes to be successful, but having the same playbook as Norv is different than game planning. The reason why Norv was good, is he could game plan an offensive script better than lots od OCs. Your new guy may know his plays, but can he create the same gameplan? Personally, I dont think so. But I could also be a hater.

I think 8-8 this year for you guys, with next year being the year you really come out and blow it up.

Also, don't say your deep at RBs, because Robinson has done squat to say he can be relied upon for 10+ carries a game.

GO SKINS!

Aneesh,

I take what you say with a grain of salt. You're like a woman scorned with those "on-paper" championship teams. Washington consistently puts out a great paper squad and are unable to get the job done.

The Niners are a different organization in an easier division. I think the Cowboys win the NFC east and beat the Deadskins twice. I'm giving my Niners 10 wins this year!

I will admit is wide open division. It will be fun to see what happens. My cowboys are going to be a dominant team this year.

Rufus, I am sure you took my 10--6 prediction in 2005 with a grain of salt as well ;)

Hey, I am just calling it as I see it. I see 8-8 for my Skins this year as well.

However, don't everyone go jumping on the Cowgirls bandwagon. Wade Phillips has never won a damn thing and a 2nd year QB coach is now calling your plays. Add that to the fact that Parcells is no longer there to keep TO's bitch ass in check.

I can just smell week six and Romo keeps throwing high balls over the middle to TO.

TO comes back screaming and bitching at him. We can all start enjoying the show then!

Aneesh Romo is going in to his 5th year and is 2 year starter and Pro-Bowler.

Neither Alex Smith nor Campbell can say that.

Can anyone name a season where a QB had a bad season with TO on the field?????-I don't think So!!!

Our offensive Line is money and we sured up all holes on the D.

The redskins have soo many problems i don't know where to began.. The D is a nightmare!!

Smith may be unproven, but at least he doesnt choke like Romo..need i remind you playoff field goal disaster last year? As him being a Pro Bowler....the ONLY reason why he was in the Pro Bowl was that DREW BREES got hurt. COWBOYS win 8 to 9 games at most this year. WATCH TO blow up, and their overrated safties get blown up cause Roy Williams can't cover.

Walter, Romo has 9 starts and Campbell has 7.

Alex Smith has more than both! So I am not sure what you are talking about.

As for your o-line, how has it improved? Because of Davis? The same Davis that failed in Arizona at his natural position? Now he is moving to a position he doesn't even like.

Also, please do not give me the Romo hype shit. Look at his last 5 starts! They were worse than Campbells! Once teams had enough games to game plan him on, he started fading.

As for TO and his QBs, name once when TO helped a team get to the SB in the playoffs? Please tell me when he did not have a fight with his QB. If you remember McNabb in 2005 in the first 7 games with TO, his numbers were not all that great. You will see what a cancer does to a team with a players coach. He will walk all over Wade Phillips because he knows Phillips isn't in charge, Jerry Jones is!

Jerry Jones wants the stardom to create more money for his pocket. That is why Parcells left. That is why he hired an Offensive Coordinator before the head coach. That is why he agrees with Tony Homo judging pageants, hanging out with celebreties late at night and more.

I am telling you this team is looking GREAT on paper (just like the Skins last year), but it takes more than talent to win in the NFL. It all starts with a coach, which yours will be out after this year.

You are talking about a QB choking because he fumbled a football as a holder? Please- Who do you think drove dallas the length of the field for the victory?

I would take Romo over Campbell- Any day of the week.

Alex Smith needs Norv Turner- He still throwing as many picks as touchdowns.

Line much improved? definitely- You move a Left Tackle to right guard he will be great. Plus our starting tackles are actually healthy leading in to the season.

Our D is going to be Money. Just take a look at that San Diego D.

Really-There is not much more to agrue, they have to do the talking on the field-Until we see who will be healthy for Week.

Yes..holding a field goal snap is soo simple a monkey could do it. ALL he had to do was put the ball down, and yet Romo couldn't do it. I don't know how else you can explain a choke. He may have drove the length of the field...but in the end he still messed up. It would like Michael Jordan taking the last shot in the game, getting fouled and then missing both free throws. One word to describe it CHOKE!

So anonymous,

Assuming you are indeed a true bamma, you mean CHOKE as in Gilbert Arenas in the playoffs who had a couple shots to win it? Why put Jordan's name in there when you have the real life scenario right there inside the beltway?!

You can blame Romo the holder for choking, but not Romo the QB.

I think thats a reach.

But everyone will see that the last 5 games of last year was more of the real Romo than the first 4.

You can blame Romo the player for choking. If he is on the field, it doesn't matter what position he is. He is still a player and do his job, which he didnt.

The last 5 Games of the season. Romo had 2 games were he threw 2 tds and 1 pick and 2 games were he threw 1 pick and 2 tds. That isn't horrible nor is it great..

You look at his playoff game performance it was money. He threw 1 td no picks and had the highest passer rating for the playoffs.

Romo will be just fine. Running game is money, D is improved, and the o-line is improved.

R.I.P Bill Walsh

Add that to the fire that the Niners are bringing to the league this year and we're a shoe-in for the playoffs!
